• The base is a polished manzanita burl, responsibly harvested only from private lands where needed for fire protection brush clearance.

The stylized graceful simplicity of this bird fits the image of the iconic bird in Richard Bach's best selling book Jonathan Livingston Seagull, which helped the Studio get off to a flying start in 1973. More than 40 years later, it still has a strong appeal; one might say it has become a classic. It is molded of, Pellucida, our proprietary compound of resins that resembles but is more durable than Bisque porcelain. This seagull is about 14 inches in wingspan; soaring above a select polished burlwood base it stands about 11 inches tall. PLEASE NOTE: the photos are of illustrative samples. Each burl is a unique piece of nature's art, so the one you will receive will be different but of similar size and comparable beauty. It is SIGNED and comes with a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY.
